Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. It was an innate trait for a girl of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in the beginning by gifted relatives and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin - Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons came 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely adept in them. Furthermore, she had a gift for acting. Her winning of almost every Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to the fact that she was a natural performer. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater and singing opera.
