From the age of five years, Linda Blair had to be accustomed to being in the spotlight, first as a child model and then acting in the role of an actress when among 600 hopefuls, she was picked for the part of Regan who was the child who had been possessed who was for the film The Exorcist (1973). Linda soon rose to international fame, won the Golden Globe, and seemed to be set to take her first Academy Award for that role However, after it was revealed about the fact that some aspects of the role weren't performed by Linda Blair (the evil voice was created with Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt model were utilized) that dream broke in disappointment, which likely came the first blow that could have been the beginning of an A-list career. The following years saw she was able secure lead part in a range of movies. The most notable of these were the television films Born Innocent and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic along with Exorcist II - The Heretic. However, when she was peer pressured into buying cocaine at the age of 18 years old, it resulted in the arrest of her and the subsequent sentence to probation for three years. Linda was blocked by Hollywood after the highly-publicized drug arrest. Her career soon became only limited to B movies as well as guest television appearances.
